Artist’s Profile
Georgia Tsatsaris (formerly Georgia Beratis) was born in Melbourne in 1965. Her interest in art goes back to her childhood where she spent many hours drawing and sketching.
Over the years her colourful pastels have won many awards and have found their way into many private collections including the home of former Victorian Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon. Corporate collections include the offices of B. Stehsholt MP for Burwood Victoria and the Victor Hotel in Victor Harbor South Australia. In March 2004, her work was selected by the Director of MGA Jane Scott to be hung at the Monash Gallery of Art. Georgia has successfully exhibited in shows throughout Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.
Largely a self taught artist, she has studied and received guidance under Joanne Seberry, Terrianne Murray, Lorraine Wigraft and Carol Boothman.
Georgia has been greatly influenced by the French Impressionists, and admires the works of Constable, Monet, Sisley, and Renoir, along with Arthur Streeton, and Tom Roberts.
The subject matter, the technique, the rapidly applied brushstrokes which are often visible, draws the viewer in and the bright, pure colour is an inspiration. Georgia is a member of Malvern Artist Society, The Australian Guild of Realist Artists and the Pastel Society of Victoria.
